Where the Eagles land in a ranking of NFL’s worst to first candidates in 2021

Eagles are No. 6 in a ranking of the NFL’s worst-to-first candidates

The NFL is the one league where a team can go from the cellar to the top of the mountain with one successful offseason and 2021 will provide the opportunity for several organizations to regain their swagger.

The Niners, Falcons, and Broncos are among the talented rosters in the NFL that battled injuries and bad luck in 2020, but 2021 provides reinforcements like Nick Bosa or Von Miller’s return for their respective teams.

NFL.com’s Adam Schein ranked every division’s worst team and their potential to rise to first place a year later.

They landed at No. 6 on the list behind the Jacksonville Jaguars.

I don’t think the Eagles are very good, but the NFC East is objectively bad. So maybe I have Philly a little low on this list — especially considering I’m more of a believer in Jalen Hurts than many other folks in this industry. I love DeVonta Smith, too, and think he will be a star right away. So, what’s the problem?

Well, I’m concerned about … um … everything else. From a snake-bitten offensive line to a defense riddled with holes in the back seven. I know new coach Nick Sirianni loves rock-paper-scissors, but don’t know much about his potential as a head man.

According to Schein, only the Jets and Lions had worse odds, but we can make a case for the Jaguars sliding down as well since they’ll have to leapfrog the Titans and Colts to win the division.

The loaded 49ers landed at No. 1 on the list, and it seems like they’ll be returning the bulk of their roster, while the Falcons could jump back in the mix despite rumors of Julio Jones on his way out.
