It’s not by a wide margin, but the Georgia Bulldogs have officially reeled in Ohio State and surpassed the Buckeyes for the top spot in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings for 2022. The Buckeyes have had a lock on the top spot almost since when the rankings were first being tracked.
However, the Bulldogs have been closing fast as of late, and with a flurry of commitments at the end of March, UGA now owns the top spot. OSU had been hanging on but hasn’t seen a commitment since February 28, all while Georgia pulled in three recruits in almost succession. First, five-star athlete Malaki Starks committed on 03/25, followed closely by four-star OLB Jalon walker on 03/28, and then four-star running back Jordan James on 03/29. The Dawgs also added a punter from Pro-Kick Australia on 03/31.
As a result, Georgia now has 241.09 points followed closely by Ohio State’s 238.72. It must be noted that OSU still holds the lead in average rating (95.72 to 94.24) and has one less commitment than the Bulldogs do (12 to 11).
Don’t worry though Buckeye fans. There’s still plenty of big fish in the recruiting pond OSU is in the running for, and plenty of time left to overtake the underachieving recruiting machine that Georgia has been as of late.
