Former police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all counts in the murder of George Floyd by a jury on Tuesday in Minneapolis. Chauvin faced charges of second- and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of Floyd, who was killed last May.
Floyd’s death sparked a wave of protests worldwide last year, and over the last year the NBA has served as a platform for many stars to campaign against social and racial injustice. The Milwaukee Bucks led a historic boycott during the playoffs in August following the shooting of Jacob Blake, and dozens of players and coaches have been vocal in calls for reform.
