The future of Chicago Bears wide receiver Anthony Miller has been in doubt since the conclusion of the 2020 season. And in the following months, talks of Miller being traded from Chicago have only heated up.

Last week, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Bears have been in trade talks with multiple teams about Miller. Before that, it was ESPN’s Adam Schefter that reported there had been discussions. But could a trade happen ahead of the NFL draft? Perhaps so.

Miller posted a cryptic tweet with an hourglass emoji, which doesn’t give us a lot to go off. But considering reports from Rapoport and Schefter that Chicago has discussed trading Miller, there’s a good indication that Miller’s tweet is in reference to that.

The Bears traded up in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft to select Miller, and he had an impressive rookie season with six touchdowns. But since then, Miller’s performance has been up-and-down.

Last season, Miller was supplanted by rookie wideout Darnell Mooney, who established himself as the clear-cut No. 2 receiver behind Allen Robinson. Miller had a so-so season, where he had 49 receptions for 485 yards and two touchdowns.

But the defining moment that seemed to seal Miller’s fate with the team happened during Chicago’s wild-card playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints. Miller was ejected for punching Saints safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, which wasn’t met with approval by Bears chairman George McCaskey.
