Julian Edelman had everyone thinking he was going to the Buccaneers with this cruel April Fools joke

Wow this was cruel.

For a second there, it really looked like the gang was getting back together in full.

Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski were just an unstoppable trio in New England with the Patriots for years. The three had unbelievable chemistry with one another.

Brady and Gronkowski are now having a bit of success on their own down in Tampa Bay. The two obviously play for the Buccaneers now and just won a Super Bowl.

So, of course, if there was a way to get Edelman down to Tampa to continue what they were doing back in New England, you’d think they would. And for a second on Thursday, it seemed like they figured it out.

Edelman cryptically tweeted this gif of Jack from Pirates of the Caribbean saying “it’s a pirate life for me,” which one could easily assume means he was going to Tampa.

Fans got hype. They were ready for the Brady-Edelman connection to run it back.

Patriots fans were also fairly sad about what they thought was breaking news.

Turns out, everyone can rest easy. It was all a cruel April Fools day joke.

Whew, buddy. That’s just cruel.
