Texas football landed six of the top recruits in the Big 12 since 2000

Texas and Oklahoma dominate recruiting in the Big 12. Take a look at how they fared with the top 10 recruits in the conference since 2000.

Texas and Oklahoma have carried the Big 12 conference in terms of recruiting.

We’d typically say the two programs have dominated the conference in regards to results on the football field as well, but the Longhorns have some catching up to do in that aspect as of late.

FOX College Football recently shared an interesting graphic that showcases the dominance from Texas and Oklahoma when it comes to landing the top recruits in the Big 12. Either the Longhorns or Sooners have brought in the top 10 recruits in the conference since 2000.

It’s no surprise that Texas legend Vince Young took the top spot as he is still considered one of the highest rated prospects in college football. Oklahoma’s star running back Adrian Peterson landed at No. 2, while the most recent signee to appear on the list is five-star quarterback Caleb Williams, the top player in Oklahoma’s 2021 recruiting class.
