OK. Let’s get this out of the way right now. If you’ve watched Ohio State play over the last few seasons, there are times when you love guard Duane Washington and others when your frustration boils over.
Love him or hate him though, coach Chris Holtmann has a soft spot for the up and down Washington and continues to defend the development he’s made and the leader he has become for the Buckeyes. He has, on more than one occasion, lauded praise on Washington after games. He has, at other times, shown some of his own frustrations at some of the questionable shots he has taken during his time in Columbus.
But, there’s no denying the two have a solid relationship and the Big Ten Network chronicled it during a segment of “The Journey.” If you didn’t get to see the short piece, it’s an interesting one.
Washington talks about how he has grown and learned from Holtmann, and the head coach at OSU discusses how much Washington means to him and the team. We even get a little insight from a third-party when Justin Ahrens weighs in on what he sees from the inside with the two.
Watch below and get a little better feel for what makes the Washington and Holtmann dynamic tick.
"I love him. I love coaching him, but he's gonna send me to an early death."
You probably heard @ChrisHoltmann's quote about Duane Washington Jr. (@dwizthekid). @BTNJourney looks at the @OhioStateHoops coach-star bond.
