This time a week ago, with the Raiders coming off their season-ending win over the Dolphins, we were all learning about Josh Jacobs being involved in a car accident that had him booked on suspicion of DUI.

At the time, his lawyers pointed out that though their client had been booked, he had yet to receive any actual charges of DUI. Today those lawyers announced Jacobs will not be charged with DUI.

Jacobs wasn’t free and clear in this incident. He has been charged with ‘failure to exercise due care.’

His lawyers pointed out that many outlets improperly interpreted Jacobs’s booking, leading many to believe he had been officially charged with DUI, as opposed to being booked on suspicion of DUI. That’s an important distinction.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours Monday, and with the charges filed, one can deduce that Jacobs used poor judgment, but whether these charges will ultimately result in any kind of league punishment remains unknown.
