Oklahoma is without one of its most promising players for the 2020 finale.
Former five-star receiver Jadon Haselwood was nursing and rehabbing a torn ACL suffered in April before coming back for the Kansas game in early Nov.. He would then miss the Oklahoma State game for an undisclosed reason, return for Baylor two weeks later and Haselwood made a big catch in the Big 12 Championship game.
Regardless of his improved role after coming back from his knee injury in the Big 12 Championship, Haselwood is not with Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl. Oklahoma has not made an official comment on the matter and neither has Haselwood. On his Instagram, Haselwood shows he has been working out and training away from the team.
Sooners Wire was able to confirm his absence from the team on Tuesday, but the reasons for it remain unclear. Oklahoma anticipates him returning to the team after continuing to heal from his injury. That, though, isn’t 100 percent ironed out.
Haselwood has caught four passes for 65 yards in just three games during his sophomore season at Oklahoma. He was expected to be a major contributor and the heir apparent to CeeDee Lamb.
Oklahoma and Florida are slated to kickoff at 7 p.m. CT in the Cotton Bowl.
