We don’t yet know whether or not The Game will happen due to Michigan football’s current COVID-19 woes, but if it does, Las Vegas doesn’t think the Wolverines have any kind of chance of winning.
Let alone keeping it close.
No, the opening odds have been posted for Michigan vs. Ohio State, and Bovada has the opening line set at 29.5 points, favoring the rival Buckeyes.
The only game all season that the Wolverines looked like a complete team came in the opening week, when the maize and blue thumped Minnesota. But since, they haven’t looked good in any outing. The last time that Michigan faced a top-ranked team this season was against now two-loss Wisconsin, in a game where the Badgers annihilated the Wolverines in every facet.
Regardless, it’s looking unlikely that the maize and blue will be able to field a team at this juncture, as it went virtual last week and has yet to rescind it for in-person practices and meetings.
So, how unusual is to see such a hefty line between the two rivals? While ESPN noted it’s been 40 years, Michigan football historian and author John U. Bacon noted it’s been even longer.
Try 50 years — and probably more like 52 or 53, if that, and maybe ever. https://t.co/lhVF6REBRB
