Steelers – Ravens: The NFL actually played on a Wednesday more recently than you think

It’s rare but not THAT rare.

If you’re sitting down on Wednesday (!!) at 3:40 p.m. (!!!) to watch a Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens game that was supposed to be played last week on Thanksgiving night (!!!!), you may be wondering when the last time the NFL was played on Hump Day.

It was in September of 2012 that the New York Giants played the Dallas Cowboys on a Wednesday, not the traditional Thursday. That was because the next day, President Barack Obama was speaking at the Democratic Nationals Convention to accept the party’s nomination in what would be a successful attempt to be reelected.

What’s more, there used to be a lot more NFL games on Wednesdays:

So there you have it. Wednesday football isn’t so rare. Wednesday football at 3:40 p.m. Eastern, on the other hand …
