Oklahoma avoided it for the longest time, but the coronavirus doesn’t care about a Big 12 Championship race.
The Sooners have had an uptick in COVID-19 cases within the athletic department umbrella the last two weeks of data released to the media. With that, Oklahoma was missing players from its last game against Oklahoma State and those reason were never confirmed by the Sooners.
Now, Oklahoma is dealing with COVID-19 issues again and this time it’s worse than last week.
“In accordance with Big 12 Conference football game interruption guidelines, the Oklahoma at West Virginia game scheduled for Nov. 28 has been postponed,” Oklahoma football announced in a press release. “The game will be rescheduled on Dec. 12. The time and television designation will be announced when available.”
The Sooners were scheduled to play West Virginia at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday night. The two are now scheduled to play on Dec. 12. The time has not been announced.
In light of this announcement, “the Oklahoma football program has temporarily paused organized team activities due to recent positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing,” the team announced.
Sooners Wire will stay up to date on this story.
