As the NBA continues to get going towards next week’s draft and the start of free agency a few days later, we are also starting to see more leaks of how the city edition jerseys are going to look for many of the teams in the league. And with regards to the Philadelphia 76ers, forward Ben Simmons had a hand in designing their latest jerseys, which were profiled on Tuesday by ESPN.com’s Zach Lowe. Simmons was inspired by the black jerseys that Allen Iverson wore in his Sixers heyday and wanted to pay homage to Iverson and the city of Philadelphia.

Simmons also reportedly saved the Sixers from wearing a black and blue jersey that wasn’t really Sixers colors and looked more like a thin blue line flag.
Simmons insisted on red. “He was like, ‘Where’s the red, man?'” Dorset said.
Red is among Simmons’ favorite colors. “You have to include the blue and red,” Simmons said. “Those colors are synonymous with the Sixers.”
Simmons is following in the footsteps of LeBron in helping design jersey at a young age, perhaps a run to the Conference Finals or beyond, with a new coach and front office in Philadelphia, will follow for Simmons as well.
