Beyond its origin, it’s just one of many unique plays that the team has at their disposal. They could go back to the 1948 Rose Bowl and borrow a play or they could design something entirely new that the NFL has never seen before.
The fact that this team encourages and fosters creativity from the coaching staff to the players makes them a true outlier in the NFL. There are other NFL teams that can hardly run the most vanilla play design to perfection. Meanwhile, Kansas City continues to be one of the most innovative and dangerous offensive teams in football.
