The Houston Texans released a statement on Thursday morning announcing that a player had tested positive for COVID-19.
The player would make the second player who has tested positive for the novel coronavirus this season. The first was guard Max Scharping last week.
“We were informed last night that a Texans player has tested positive for COVID-19,” the team statement read. “In consultation with the NFL and medical experts, we have made the decision to close the facility and conduct all operations virtually today. The player immediately self-isolated and contact tracing has begun.
“We will follow the NFL’s intensive protocols and guidance regarding the team’s operations. The health and safety of our team, as well as our entire staff, are of highest priority.”
According to Mark Berman, the sports director at Fox 26 [KRIV-TV], the player that tested positive was outside linebacker Jacob Martin.

If the Texans have to be without Martin, it could give third-round rookie Jonathan Greenard more snaps against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday at 12:00 p.m. CT at TIAA Bank Field.
