Coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Monday that the team will place Williams on injured reserve with his bad shoulder.
Williams has not played this season. He has been on the active roster but a weekly inactive for the entire five-game campaign.
The second-year CB injured his shoulder during training camp. He had been progressing up to limited duty over the last couple of weeks but has not been able to get back to full participant status.
With the new injured reserve rules, Williams must miss just three games. He can be activated after the Week 8 matchup in Cleveland with the Raiders.
Terrance Mitchell has started in Williams’ place and played well
