Another weekend of college football is in the books, and for the Florida Gators, the past few days also included some other intercollegiate action as UF’s student-athletes slowly arise from their summer slumber.
Friday, the men’s and women’s cross country team traveled to Tallahassee to take part in the FSU Invitational, in which the Gators came in fourth and seventh place, respectively, out of a field of ten schools. Next up is the Blazer Classic in Birmingham, Ala. on Oct. 16 for their final meet before the SEC Championships.
On the same day, the men’s tennis team hit the road to participate in the Tiger Fall Invitational at Auburn University and finished their hot start to the fall season with a 30-9 record at the tournament. Overall, UF went 24-3 in singles matches and 6-6 in doubles matches in its first team competition since March 8.
Yesterday, the women’s soccer team defeated No. 15 Alabama Crimson Tide at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium in Gainesville, 2-1. The game-winning goal was scored by sophomore Alivia Gonzalez — her first collegiate goal.
Today, the men’s and women’s golf teams travel to Arkansas for the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. The three-day event will take place from Monday to Wednesday of this week.
