Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro on Wednesday joined Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor in a bit of playoff history once he scored 15 points in the first half of Game 4 versus the Boston Celtics.
The contest marked the 13th playoff game for Herro as he has scored in double figures in each of those games. Herro tied Baylor for the most consecutive games by a rookie with at least 10 points scored, who accomplished the feat in 1959, according to ESPN.
Herro can catch his Eastern Conference Finals opponent, Jayson Tatum, during the next game and he could potentially set the record should the Heat advance to the NBA Finals.
Most consecutive games with 10+ points by a rookie in playoff history
- Alvan Adams: 19 – 1976
- Jayson Tatum: 14 – 2018
- Elgin Baylor: 13 – 1959
- Tyler Herro: 13 – 2020
Herro scored a playoff career-high 22 points in Game 3 and entered Game 4 averaging 14.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and four assists during the postseason while he has shot 41.7% from the field and 36.3% from 3-point range. He has emerged as a key player for the Heat and is a huge reason why they are up on the Celtics in the series.
Miami led Boston 50-44 at halftime of Game 4.
