The Chicago Bears returned to the practice field Tuesday with their second of 14 possible padded practices at training camp ahead of the Sept. 13 opener against the Detroit Lions.
The Bears release some highlights from the second day of padded practice, which included some impressive performances by tight ends Jimmy Graham and Cole Kmet, as well as a ridiculous catch by receiver Allen Robinson against safety Eddie Jackson and a look at new pass rusher Robert Quinn.
And, of course, there was plenty of looks at quarterbacks Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles in the nearly three-minute highlights video.
Graham has been the talk of training camp over these last two days, but he was especially impressive during Tuesday’s practice making some impressive catches and even getting into a skirmish with safety Deon Bush. The Bears brought Graham in to provide a boost in the passing game, something that was lacking from tight ends last season.
But it wasn’t all good news out of Tuesday’s practice as cornerback Artie Burns tore his ACL, effectively ending his season and leaving Chicago shorthanded at cornerback. More than ever, the Bears need rookie Jaylon Johnson to take control of this cornerback competition heading into the regular season.
