Padres at Dodgers: Projected starting pitchers
RHP Garrett Richards vs. RHP Ross Stripling
Richards has a 4.60 ERA through 15 2/3 IP. He has been steady but leaning toward mediocre in three starts.
- The Padres right-hander has a limited history against current Dodgers bats, but in 53 PA Los Angeles has managed just a .545 OPS against him.
- Richards posted tremendous numbers in 2014-15 with the Los Angeles Angels, but he has since been derailed by injuries. The now-32-year-old has made just 34 starts over the last five seasons.
Stripling is 3-0 with a 4.00 ERA. He has yielded just a 1.00 WHIP and has 16 strikeoutt 16 in 18 frames.
- Stripling is facing the Padres for a second time in six days. San Diego got to him for 4 runs in 5 2/3 IP Aug. 5.
- Stripling likes pitching in Chavez Ravine. He owns a career ERA of 3.06 in the Dodgers’ home yard.

Moneyline (ML)
San Diego took the series opener, 2-1, Monday night. The pitchers’ duel in that one was a slowdown for the Padre offense which had logged a .848 OPS over its previous six games.
San Diego bats make good contact, and their lefty bats are tough on right-handers, but that’s a strength-on-strength factor in this matchup. Stripling is tough on LHBs and the LA bullpen is especially tough on lefty swingers.
The Padres ‘pen is beaten up by injuries, and the LA relief corps is elite. TAKE THE DODGERS (-154).

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)
The O/U is a well-priced, moderate number, but LOS ANGELES -1.5 (+125) has some value. Consider an undercard play attached to the straight moneyline side. LA is 4-1 after losses this season; all four wins have been by multiple runs.
Over/Under (O/U)
Recent trends are even on both sides. The last 10 Dodger Stadium games in the series have resulted in eight Unders. BUT TAKE A PASS ON THE OVER 8.5 (-110)/UNDER 8.5 (-110).
