Texas QB Sam Ehlinger looks ripped, first day of training camp updates

The Texas football social media department provided fans with updates and photos of the first training camp practice.

Texas football held their first day of training camp on Friday.

While the college football season continues to sit in a puddle of uncertainty, one thing you can count on is for senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger to be prepared for whatever comes his way.

Ehlinger not only appears to be dialed in and determined, he looks absolutely ripped from a physical standpoint. The Texas Longhorns social media account provided several updates throughout the first practice.

Shortly after the practice concluded, head coach Tom Herman spoke with the media via a virtual press conference. On Friday and Saturday, players will be in helmets only. They’ll add pads on Sunday, then have the day off on Monday. Their first full-pad practice is expected to take place on Wednesday.

In terms of operating during the COVID-19 pandemic, Texas currently has zero players who have tested positive. They’re expected to be tested twice a week throughout the season.

If for any reason Herman was forced to quarantine this year, he’d still be able to attend meetings remotely. However, running backs coach Stan Drayton and defensive coordinator Chris Ash would take over in his absence.

It’s great to see that the Longhorns are taking every health and safety precaution possible. They were photographed sporting masks and face shields during breaks.

Although there were a few bumps in the road while they familiarize themselves with the new norm, it appears Friday’s practice went as well as it could. Herman stated that just two players suffered cramps.

Defensive back D’Shawn Jamison was recently named the most exciting player to watch for the Longhorns by ESPN. Take a look at a brief highlight of his from Friday.
