USA Today listed the top-earning athletic departments this week and the Badgers fell at No. 11 with a whopping total revenue of $157,660,107, a mark also good for No. 4 in the Big Ten.
They stand behind, in order, Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Penn State, Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida and LSU.
Other Big Ten teams in the top 25 include Iowa at No. 14, Michigan State at No. 18, Nebraska at No. 21, Minnesota at No. 24 and Indiana at No. 25.
A lot of those numbers are obviously going to change during this year’s unique athletic calendar. Wisconsin athletics, though, is in great shape to withstand a down year and avoid having to cut sports and cut funding, something we’ve already seen from Stanford and other mid-major athletic programs.
