Ever since Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving joined the Nets, Spencer Dinwiddie has said Brooklyn has its third star. Caris LeVert.
But with the injuries and other problems the Nets experienced before the NBA went on hiatus due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, there’s been talk about the team getting a third star. (Irving, at one point, also mentioned the team was a few pieces away from where it needed to be.)
With the NBA set to resume 2019-20 in late July, LeVert will be a focal point in Brooklyn’s offense — if not the primary focal point. For the 2016 first-round pick, it’s a chance to prove not only Dinwiddie right, but also Paul Pierce.
The retired ex-Nets forward explained on ESPN’s The Jump why he feels the Disney bubble is as important for LeVert as anyone:
Caris LeVert can be that guy (to be that third star). This is very important for him. If he balls out, they might not need that third superstar.
