Report: 49ers sign 1st-round pick Javon Kinlaw

The 49ers signed 1st-round pick Javon Kinlaw to his rookie contract.

The 49ers on Friday signed the third member of their 2020 NFL draft class. Defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw, the team’s first pick, signed his standard first-round deal — a four-year contract with a fifth-year option according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Kinlaw was the No. 14 pick and one of the 49ers’ top prospects in this year’s class according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. San Francisco initially had the No. 13 pick from their trade with the Colts that sent defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to Indianapolis. The 49ers moved down one spot in a trade with the Buccaneers on draft day when offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs was available at the No. 13 spot.

Kinlaw will be tasked with filling the void left by Buckner on the 49ers’ defensive front. He had 10 sacks and 17 tackles for loss in 29 games at the University of South Carolina.

There are two members of the 49ers’ 2020 draft class yet to sign, including No. 25 overall pick Brandon Aiyuk, and sixth-round pick Charlie Woerner.
