[autotag]Hassan N’Dam[/autotag] has an extensive list of accolades in combat sports.
A former WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF boxing champion, N’Dam can now add “MMA fighter” to his resume. An announcement video published Monday revealed N’Dam’s transition, as well as his signing with rising promotion ARES. The terms of N’Dam’s deal were not disclosed, nor was a target date or location for his MMA debut.
“Why did Hassan sign at ARES?” ARES president Fernand Lopez said in the video. “How could we not sign Hassan at ARES. That’s the real question. At ARES, our objective is to develop the talents of Africa, the talents of Europe, and to date, Hassan has a main role in the world of combat sport.
“He started boxing back in Cameroon, and he proved to the world that he could go to the highest level. His idea to start MMA is to prove to the world that it can happen at the highest level.”
Over the span of a 15-year professional boxing career, N’Dam has compiled a 37-5 record with 21 knockout victories. Notable opponents he’s faced include David Lemieux, Callum Smith, and Ryoto Murata. He also competed in the 2016 Olympics for Cameroon.
N’Dam, 36, most recently competed in December, losing to WBA Gold super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov by unanimous decision.
