UFC on ESPN 9 reactions: Winning and losing fighters on social media

UFC on ESPN 9 winners and losers react on social media outlets such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Since the early days when the sport was anything but a mainstream endeavor, the MMA industry has thrived and survived through various websites, forums, and – perhaps most importantly – social-media platforms.

Fighters interact with fans, each other and many more through the likes of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which helps outsiders get a deeper look into the minds of the athletes.

Following Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 9 in Las Vegas, several of the winning and losing fighters, along with their coaches, training partners or family members, took to social media to react to the event or share a message with supporters.

Check out some of those reactions.

After watching the fight, my take is that I convincingly won this fight 2 rounds to 1. Not only was I closer to finishing the fight several times in the 2nd and 3rd round, but the added bonus is that If this fight continues, I’m finishing the job of breaking him. I bet if you watch it without commentary you would agree… unless you bet money against me 😂😭. Another thing I wanted to address was the punch at the end of round one. If anyone thinks that was dirty, you don’t know anything about fighting, or this particular fight.. Last fight “spike”’had won by knocking out Aalon Cruz with a combination that included elbows to the back of his head, one of only like 5 things illegal in mma 🙄. The ref brought this up before the fight and was “well aware of the situation,” meaning other people told him about it… So our fight begins and right away he punches and elbows me in the back of the head like 5 times (the ref warns him)… At this point there are no more gentlemen agreements, and I’m willing to do anything it takes to win this fight from BELL TO BELL.. When he stood up and walks away from me all cocky with 10 seconds left, I’m taking that punch every single time and I bet you would too 😂😂😂. Overall it was a tough close fight, but the only 3 people who were keeping score in the #ufcapex told me i won…. so I’ll take it 😤. Much respect to hunter for the fight, he has a bright future, and with his antics he will be a popular fighter if he can come back stronger. I’m glad we got to put on a show during this time, I promise to come back better next fight and get the finish.. A lot of people told me it should have been “Fight of the Night” which is always good to hear. Next fight will be back at featherweight, I gotta get a couple bumps and bruises looked at but i should be back soon! Appreciate all the support 🙏🏼 #teamQ #ufc #espn #ufcapex

The Blue Corner is MMA Junkie’s blog space. We don’t take it overly serious, and neither should you. If you come complaining to us that something you read here is not hard-hitting news, expect to have the previous sentence repeated in ALL CAPS.
