Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are just some of the names that come to mind when discussing who could win NFL MVP in 2020.
But what if it’s a candidate out of the blue? What if a team wins a surprising number of games, and a dark horse sneaks into the MVP race?
Bleacher Report listed some possible dark horses, and Vikings fans will be happy, or shocked, or maybe both, to find Kirk Cousins on the outlet’s list.
Here’s what it said about Cousins:
“Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is one of the first names who pops to mind when thinking along such lines. He’s always been an eye-popping numbers guy, though he’s won more than eight games just twice.
Cousins had four-year run with 4,000-plus passing yards end last year. He completed 69.1 percent of his attempts for only 3,603 yards and 26 touchdowns against six interceptions—but his attempts dropped below the 450 mark for the first time since 2014.”
Bleacher Report went on to mention that Cousins did lose Stefon Diggs this offseason, but gained Justin Jefferson at wide receiver. It will be interesting to see how much of the void Jefferson can fill that is left by Diggs going to the Bills in a trade.
