Instant analysis of Titans drafting CB Kristian Fulton

Instant analysis of the Titans’ second-round pick, Kristian Fulton.

Tennessee Titans fans should be very excited about the team’s second-round pick (No. 61 overall), LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton, who was projected by many to be a first-round pick in this year’s draft.

There’s a lot to like about Fulton, from his size (6-foot, 197 pounds) and physicality that enables him to hang with bigger receivers, to his speed (4.46 40-yard dash) that allows keep up with burners.

He also offers versatility. Fulton projects to be a starter on the outside for the long haul, but he can also move inside for 2020 and fill the Titans’ need at slot corner.

The LSU product truly has the traits to do it all in the NFL and he’ll be a great depth piece at the very least this season, but should transition into a top-notch corner down the road.

So, if he’s this good, why did he fall?

We can’t say for sure, but there was an incident when he was in college where he was caught tampering with a PED test, resulting in a two-year suspension.

Fulton claimed he was tampering with it because he thought he’d test positive for marijuana. Because Fulton didn’t end up testing positive for PEDs and only marijuana, his suspension was reduced to one year.

If that’s the worst Fulton has done, the Titans are going to be alright with him. This is a supremely talented corner Tennessee is getting with a late second-round pick, and he didn’t cost anything extra.

The Day 2 magic continues for Titans general manager Jon Robinson.
