The New England Patriots went with a defensive player with their second pick in the draft, and fans had varying reactions about it. The team selected outside linebacker Josh Uche from Michigan.
He recorded 8.5 sacks in the 2019 season. In addition to his 35 tackles, he also recorded two forced fumbles and recovered a fumble as well. His presence as a pass-rusher was evident in Ann Arbor.
In 2018, he recorded seven sacks. He should help the Patriots be able to replace the linebacker depth they lost in free agency, with Jamie Collins and Kyle Van Noy leaving. Uche should give them another pass-rushing weapon on the defensive line.
Josh Uche was a great pick in terms of scheme fit for NE. #Patriots

Great move by the #Patriots. They trade away the Chargers 3rd rounder and a compensation 3rd rounder to draft Josh Uche who will replace Kyle Van Noy. Belichick hangs onto his own 3rd rounder at 87. #NFLDraft

Chase Winovich and Josh Uche could be a scary duo In the future for the Patriots.

It looks like New England may have Michigan bookends on the edge with Uche and Chase Winovich.
