One of the top games in Curry’s long list of standout performances took place in the 2015 NBA playoffs

April 23, 2015

After finishing the regular season with 67 wins, the Warriors claimed the top spot in the Western Conference. Led by Anthony Davis, Golden State welcomed the rising New Orleans Pelicans in the opening round of the 2015 playoffs.

Golden State eased into a 2-0 lead before traveling to a rowdy New Orleans arena that was hungry for a playoff victory. Behind the tandem of Davis and Ryan Anderson, the Pelicans streaked to a 20 point lead in the fourth period.

With their hopes of an opportunity to sweep dwindling, Curry showed off his MVP caliber skillset. Curry scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to add to his 40 for the night on 10-of-29 shooting.

The Davidson product cut the lead down to two points with a 3-pointer at the 12-second mark to give Golden State an opportunity to complete the comeback. A free throw from Davis extended the Pelicans’ lead to three points with three ticks on the clock.

Curry let a 3-pointer fly to tie the game with six seconds left, but he missed. However, a gritty board from Mareese Speights gave the Warriors another chance.

Speights found Curry in the corner with a group of defenders in his grill. The six-time All-Star splashed a three with defenders draped across him as time ticked down to three seconds.

Curry completes the comeback, 123-112. While Curry’s game-saving shot to force overtime makes headlines, the Golden State point-guard got some help. Klay Thompson added 28 points with six 3-pointers, five rebounds and a pair of assists. Draymond Green recorded a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds.

On their way to winning the 2015 NBA championship, the Warriors completed the sweep against the Pelicans in round one. The highlight of Curry’s 3-pointer from the corner over Davis to force overtime still plays throughout NBA montages.
