INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA is suspending on and off-campus recruiting for all sports through April 15.
The decision stems from the coronavirus pandemic.
The Southeastern Conference initially suspended all recruiting through March 30.
“We did have conversations about recruiting, as I referenced, and have stopped off-campus and on-campus recruiting for a period of time,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said Thursday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
Before a dead period was implemented on Friday, Sankey asked for the NCAA “to fully engage” in taking measures on recruiting during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The practice issue may be for them nationally,” Sankey said Thursday. “I think we had some conversations. I don’t know that we came to a destination, so that means it’s still on that list that we’re creating.”
