Warriors announce Steph Curry is out due to ‘seasonal flu’

Just days after making his return to the NBA, Steph Curry will miss time due to the flu.

The Warriors finally welcomed Stephen Curry back to the court on Thursday night after the former MVP missed more than four months with a broken hand, but Golden State will be without Curry on Saturday night for a nationally televised game against the Sixers after Curry fell ill with the seasonal flu.

The Warriors initially announced that Curry would miss the game due to an “illness,” but the team revealed in a statement that Curry was diagnosed with influenza on Saturday morning. The team specified that Curry is dealing with the seasonal flu, and “has no specific risk factors” for COVID-19.

Officials in nearby Santa Clara County have advised that all large gatherings, such as sporting events, should be cancelled to combat the spread of coronavirus, but Bay Area pro sports teams are continuing to host games as scheduled.

The Warriors will also be without Draymond Green on Saturday, who is dealing with left knee soreness.
