Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill given top 3 odds to replace Tom Brady

Marcus Mariota and Ryan Tannehill are top three in the odds to replace Tom Brady if he leaves the Pats.

If quarterback Tom Brady leaves the New England Patriots in free agency this offseason, a pair of Tennessee Titans quarterbacks are among the favorites to take his place.

According to BetOnline’s Dave Mason, Ryan Tannehill and Marcus Mariota are second and third, respectively, in the odds of players who could become the next quarterback of the Patriots.

The favorite? New Orleans Saints quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater.

  • Teddy Bridgewater: 3-1
  • Ryan Tannehill: 7-2
  • Marcus Mariota: 5-1
  • Andy Dalton: 6-1
  • Jarrett Stidham: 7-1
  • Derek Carr: 8-1
  • Jimmy Garoppolo: 10-1
  • Nick Foles: 14-1
  • Philip Rivers: 14-1
  • Dak Prescott: 20-1
  • Jameis Winston: 20-1
  • Joe Flacco: 25-1
  • Cody Kessler: 33-1

Should Brady move on from New England, one of the most talked about potential destinations has been the Titans, and if that comes to fruition that means Tannehill would be in play.

If the Pats had their pick of Tannehill and Mariota on the open market, chances are the choice would be Tannehill based on recent success; although we do know New England loves a reclamation project like Mariota.

The Pats also have the option of rolling with Jarrett Stidham, who was Brady’s backup last season.

The 2019 fourth-round pick is someone New England likes, but at the very least one would assume a veteran quarterback would be brought in to compete with him.

The truth is, if Brady leaves the Pats, anything is possible, so not a single signal-caller on this list can be ruled out.

Thankfully, we only have to speculate about this stuff for less than two more weeks. Players can begin negotiating with teams on March 16, and can officially begin signing contracts on March 18.

The franchise tag deadline, which falls on March 12, could also provide some clarity if the Titans decide to use theirs on Tannehill.
