After last weekend’s sweep of Michigan, Notre Dame will end the regular season with home games against Michigan State on Friday and Saturday. The Irish (14-12-6, 9-8-5-3) are on a 4-1-2 tear, while the Spartans (14-17-1, 10-11-1-0) are on a four-game losing streak after a pair of sweeps at the hands of Michigan and Ohio State.

The Big Ten remains up for grabs, and Notre Dame remains in contention for a share of the regular-season title. It could finish anywhere from a tie for first place to sixth. Seeds No. 2 through 6 all remain a possibility. The Irish enter these two games fourth in the conference. Ten points separate the top six teams in the standings.

The Irish will need to take care of their own business and then get some help to win the regular-season championship. They need to claim six points against the Spartans, and Minnesota and Ohio State each need to accumulate four or fewer points in their weekend slates. It’s somewhat of a long shot, but it’s doable.
