Ian Rapoport of NFL.com came out with an interesting tweet on Wednesday morning. Rapoport indicates that Browns QB Baker Mayfield is aiming to lose some of the excess bulk that slowed him down in 2019.
Mayfield tried to build up his body after his rookie campaign. It was something he talked about back in training camp last July, trying to make himself more durable for the rigors of the NFL. Instead, as Rapoport notes, Mayfield appeared less quick moving around the field and in the pocket.
Rapoport doesn’t note if the order to change his fitness and body comes from the Browns or was a decision made by Mayfield himself.
An important focus for the #Browns heading into 2020: QB Baker Mayfield’s fitness and body makeup. From what I understand, he put on some weight last year to bulk up and lost some quickness. His plan is to be slimmer & faster this year, with an emphasis on being in better shape.
