The Brooklyn Nets have dealt with myriad injuries all season. From Kevin Durant to Caris LeVert to DeAndre Jordan to Kyrie Irving, but in the case of Irving, the Nets will now be without their star point guard for the rest of the season.
After the news that he will undergo right shoulder surgery, it is now official that Irving will miss the rest of the season as announced by the team on Thursday before their matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers.
His celebrated first season in Brooklyn is cut short after just 20 games, but it certainly was exciting. He averaged 27.4 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.2 rebounds including two games where he scored 50+ points. The Nets did go just 8-12 in those games.

The Nets right now are the 7 seed in the Eastern Conference and will hold off the 8 seed Orlando Magic in order to avoid the Milwaukee Bucks in Round 1 of the playoffs. Players like Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris, LeVert, and Jarrett Allen will have to shoulder a larger load the rest of the way. [lawrence-related id=7130,7123,7109]
