Mike Tomlin expects Ben Roethlisberger to be back for 2020 season

Mike Tomlin seems very confident that Ben Roethlisberger will be back.

When Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin spoke to ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith and one of the things Smith wanted to know about was Tomlin’s confidence with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger being ready for opening weekend.

“I have no hesitation,” Tomlin said. “And base that opinion on my experience and relationship with him.” Roethlisberger has been sidelined with an elbow injury since week two of the 2019 season. But despite little or no solid information coming out about Roethlisberger’s recovery, Tomlin didn’t blink as he offered this strong endorsement of Big Ben coming back.

Obviously, a lot can change between now and then but it’s great to hear such optimism about Roethlisberger. He really is going to be the difference between 2020 being a successful season or not.
