Things didn’t go as planned for [autotag]Kazula Vargas[/autotag] (and [autotag]Brok Weaver[/autotag]) on Saturday night.
The Mexican fighter was disqualified after landing an illegal knee on Weaver during the first round of their lightweight contest at UFC on ESPN+25 in Rio Rancho, N.M.
Vargas (11-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) had Weaver (15-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) pressed against the cage and in an attempt to stop Weaver from getting back to his feet, the 34-year-old Vargas landed a left knee to Weaver’s face he was still clearly down. “Chata Tuska” wasn’t fully out when he was hit, but it was clear the shot did signifcant damage.
