The Miami Dolphins’ campaign to see linebacker Zach Thomas inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame came up painfully short yesterday afternoon, but the day wasn’t a total loss for the Dolphins. As the league does each year on the eve of the Super Bowl, the annual ‘NFL Honors’ were hosted in South Florida yesterday to recognize all of the best that the 2019 season had to offer. Some of the highlights? Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray shocking to win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award and Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson scoring a unanimous MVP win.
Also among the winners? The Miami Dolphins — their “Mountaineer Shot” trick play brought home some hardware for the NFL’s ‘Play of the Year’. This marks the second consecutive season that the Dolphins have delivered the NFL’s play of the year — last season the Dolphins won the same award for their work to conduct the “Miami Miracle” against the New England Patriots.

We’ll have to stay tuned to see what the Dolphins are able to cook up in 2020 in their bid to three-peat with the NFL’s play of the year — hopefully another late season win against some playoff competition this time around can have Miami in the running for postseason play themselves?
