In an unexpected turn of events, Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon popped up on the injury report Thursday.
Mixon, impressively on his way to a 1,000-yard season after a dreadfully slow start for the entire offense, didn’t have a known issue heading into the week of practices.
Generally speaking, the Bengals don’t give veterans rest days outside of Wednesday, where Mixon had previously been listed as a full participant. For now, the listed ailment is a calf.
A week ago, Mixon rattled off 136 rushing yards on a 5.4 average in the loss to New England. He’s 75 yards removed from a 1,000-yard season a year removed from leading the AFC in rushing.
A.J. Green, John Miller and Darius Phillips didn’t practice at all Thursday on the injury report. The middle name on the injury report would explain why it seems Billy Price is on his way to starting at right guard against Miami.
