The Washington Redskins prep for a game against the Carolina Panthers is underway.
According to interim coach Bill Callahan, things continue to change in the practice department as the team gets closer and closer to season’s end.
Callahan told the media there were fewer reps during Wednesday’s practice so the players could get on and off the field faster, per Zach Selby of the team’s official website.
It makes plenty of sense. Not only is this a holiday week plus a brutally cold time of year, it’s worth keeping the wear and tear on bodies at a minimum so the team goes into games as healthy as possible.
Callahan elaborated more:
Callahan says as they get later in the year they streamline things with practice reps to try and stay fresh. Some of the base runs/passes don’t need as much work, so they spend time on the new stuff and keep the fundamentals where they have been since he took over.

By now, fundamentals should be just fine. Refining the week-by-week gameplan based on opponent is the key.
And for a team that has been as injured as the Redskins, keeping everyone healthy is quite the motivator.
