Great in close games
In two ways the Texans have played well this year. First, at home. At NRG Stadium in Houston, the Texans have defended their home turf. Overall, the Texans are 5-2 at home this season, excluding their season finale loss to the Titans. Like the Bills in Week 17, the Texans played mostly their backups. Actually, even less than the Bills because Josh Allen & Co. did play. The Texans’ starters didn’t play at all.
Of course, the Bills are 6-2 on the road this season as well.
In addition to their strong play at home, the Texans have also had a bit of a clutch gene this year. The Texans have gone 8-3 in one-score games. Plus, Watson is some familiar company. He’s tied with Allen and Seahawks QB Russell Wilson with five game-winning drives this season.
Also worth noting on Watson: He’s been banged up this season and didn’t play last week. Watson sat because he was a starter and most of them didn’t play, but was listed as questionable with a back injury last Friday on the injury report..
