8 takeaways from Bills GM Brandon Beane

Takeaways from Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane during 2020 training camp.

Is Josh Norman healthy?

Finally, Beane mentioned something that could be a good sign for Josh Norman. After already losing cornerback EJ Gaines to an opt out, the Bills then saw Norman hurt his hamstring in practice last week. But Beane, when asked if the Bills planned to essentially find a replacement via free agency… said no. The Bills won’t be working out any defensive backs, or at least hadn’t planned to as of Sunday, which bodes well for Norman’s health status.

“We have some guys on standby to workout,” Beane said. “It’s something we’re keeping close tabs on.”

Close tabs is one thing, but actually going and working out them out is another. Norman should be good to go soon, but the worrisome part is that it’s still a hamstring injury. Those can sometimes linger, but the injury happened when he was tackled, not while he was running, so perhaps there’s a positive in that?
