Beane must be next

Not exactly the groundbreaking take one might think it is, it’s clear to see that general manager Brandon Beane will soon follow McDermott.

In 2017, McDermott was hired a few weeks before the GM. The coach worked that year’s draft essentially himself and soon after Whaley was fired. The quick connection pointed toward Beane because the duo worked together with the Carolina Panthers. That quickly became a reality. Beane has said in the past that him heading to Buffalo after McDermott was not the plan all along, but who really knows… and who really cares, anyway? McDermott’s big helping hand in turning this Bills program around has naturally been Beane, so it is what it is.

With McDermott signed through the 2025 season, the GM will probably get a deal that runs through the same time frame, sooner rather than later. McDermott’s direct importance to the current roster could have been why he got his extension first… or maybe it’s because he was brought in first in 2017… but regardless, these two are both here to stay now.
