65 points from Davis and James, 3-point barrage helps Lakers go up 2-0

LeBron James and Anthony Davis were incredible with their play to help LeBron take a 2-0 lead for the first time in his Finals career.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t allow for a letdown on Friday night even though the Miami Heat were without two key players to earn a 124-114 victory to go up 2-0 in the best-of-seven NBA Finals series. James and Davis combined for 65 points on the night, with James going for 33 and Davis going for 32 on the night. Davis also had a game-high 14 rebounds and James came close to a triple-double, finishing with nine assists and nine assists.

The Lakers made basically all of the right choices in the game offensively against the Miami Heat zone. The Lakers once again attempted and made more 3-pointers than the Heat, shooting an NBA Finals record 47 times from the 3-point line and hitting 13 triples. After having four players hit multiple 3-pointers in Game 1, the Lakers had seven players hit at least 3-pointers in Game 2. Rajon Rondo had the best night from deep by going 3 of 4 from the 3-point line. All of it was unlocked by the various Lakers who caught the ball in the middle of the Heat zone. Whether it was James, Davis, Rondo, or even Alex Caruso, the Lakers seemingly always made the right play.

Now the Lakers are halfway to tying the Boston Celtics for the most championships in NBA history with their 17th banner. An all-important Game 3 is Sunday as the Heat look to avoid a 3-0 hole, which no team in NBA history has ever come back from to win.
