6 ways the Cardinals can add cap space for free agency

They now have about $39.7 million in cap space. Here are ways to increase that number to prepare for free agency.

Pugh’s cap number for 2020 is $10.5 million. He is due to make $7.25 million in salary. If the Cardinals pay him $6 million now in a bonus and reduce his salary to $1.25 million, they would save $2 million in cap space this year but add $2 million to 2021 and 2022, when his cap numbers are currently $11.25 million and $12.03 million.
