Jimmie Ward’s return to the lineup for the 49ers lasted one play. He’s been ruled out of San Francisco’s game in Carolina with a hand injury.
Ward started at the nickel for the 49ers with Tashaun Gipson remaining at the free safety spot. Carolina ran it on the first play of the game and Ward got into the mix coming down off the back side.
He exited the game and didn’t return. San Francisco late in the first quarter announced he’d been ruled out with a hand injury. He missed the first four games due to an IR stint because of a hamstring injury he suffered in the preseason.
