4 Jaguars players sit out, 4 limited in Monday practice

Four Jaguars players sat out practice Monday and four more were limited.

The Jacksonville Jaguars got right back to work Monday after a thrilling overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. With a matchup against the New York Jets just three days away, the Jaguars started their week of practices with eight players listed on the injury report.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence was among four players who didn’t practice, while outside linebacker Travon Walker was one of four who was limited.

Lawrence’s absence isn’t surprising nor concerning after he played incredible football in the last two weeks despite not fully participating in the week’s practices. Offensive tackle Cam Robinson is also no surprise after Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said earlier in the day that he’ll likely miss the remainder of the year with a knee injury.

What’s encouraging for the Jaguars is that Walker was able to participate at all with the high ankle sprain that kept him out Sunday against the Cowboys. It’s also a positive that Jawaan Taylor’s hamstring, which caused him to briefly exit Sunday, isn’t so injured that he can’t practice.

For the Jets, QB Mike White is still recovering from rib fractures. White is expected to miss the Thursday matchup, and the Jets are likely to start 2021 No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson against the Jaguars.

Jets coach Robert Saleh declined to say Monday whether White would be the starter if he’s cleared in time to play Thursday.
