Football is back.

It’s the time of year you’ve all been waiting for, so you don’t need this calendar to tell you football is back. There are so many intriguing debuts and matchups to look forward to in this first month of the season, but I simplified the calendar to give a quick glimpse of the prime-time matchups.

In addition to the NFL, we’ve got Week 1 of college football action with a few Top 25 matchups on the slate, though rankings are sure to change by the time some of these matchups roll around.

Finally, the WNBA will crown a champion, as will the US Open. And the MLB enters it final stretch of the season before the playoffs begin. Here’s your betting calendar for September.

Aggies debut video edits for 2022 visitors

Aggies debut video edits for 2022 visitors

One thing we know about the A&M recruiting staff, is that they are always at the cutting edge when it comes to producing content to create hype for recruits. Every time a recruit visits College Station, they get the opportunity to participate in photoshoots in full uniform, and have their family join them for what will certainly be lifetime memories.

Additionally, for in-season visitors, the staff produces hype videos for visitors as announcements that they’ll be on campus. This years’ videos debuted on Tuesday, and with the return of the NCAA Football video game coming, the staff has leaned into that theme.

Needless to say, the content is fire.

Updated 49ers roster after additions, other moves

An updated 53-man roster for the 49ers after their handful of moves Wednesday.

The 49ers’ initial 53-man roster got a shakeup Wednesday when they announced a couple roster moves.

First, they claimed offensive lineman Blake Hance off waivers, and added him to the roster by waiving running back Trey Sermon. The club also placed linebacker Curtis Robinson and free safety Jimmie Ward on injured reserve, then signed defensive end Jordan Willis along with tight end Tyler Kroft.

The Sermon release came as a bit of a surprise since general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan had both praised the 2021 third-round pick in the days leading up to final cuts.

Ward and Robinson were both expected to go on IR, and the 49ers agreed to bring back Kroft and Willis shortly after releasing both players at final cuts. Their veteran status didn’t subject them to waivers.

Here’s a rundown of the new 53-man roster that San Francisco will likely carry into Week 1 and their practice squad options at each position:

Who was the Bucs’ most surprising cut?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a couple of surprises among their latest roster cuts, but which one shocked fans the most?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers trimmed their roster down from 80 players to 53 prior to Tuesday’s deadline, though many of the players they let go were quickly brought back on the practice squad Wednesday.

But not everyone, and there were a few names heading out of One Buc Place that had Tampa Bay fans scratching their heads.

Who was this year’s most surprising cut?

Highlights, live streams: Tracking Alperen Sengun and Usman Garuba at EuroBasket 2022

Rockets prospects Alperen Sengun (Turkey) and Usman Garuba (Spain) are playing this week at EuroBasket 2022. Here’s how to watch and our look at how they’re faring.

Training camp for the Houston Rockets doesn’t begin until late September, and the 2022-23 regular season won’t get underway until mid-October. But for at least two of the rebuilding club’s promising young players, the competitive games will start much earlier.

Alperen Sengun and Usman Garuba, selected by the Rockets in the first round of the 2021 NBA draft, are competing for Turkey and Spain, respectively, in the European Basketball Championship. EuroBasket, as it is best known, tips off on Thursday, Sept. 1.

While most EuroBasket games won’t be shown on over-the-air television in the United States, live streams are available. For those unable to catch the action live, Rockets fans and media will clip many of the highlights (or lowlights) involving Sengun and Garuba.

With that in mind, scroll on for a daily schedule and streaming links for Sengun and Garuba’s games. When completed, each day’s section will also be updated with relevant highlights and statistics.

Schedules beyond Sept. 7 have yet to be determined, since they depend on results from the initial group stage games.

Ravens set initial 15-man practice squad for 2022

The Ravens set an initial 15-man practice squad for 2022

The Baltimore Ravens have been shuffling their roster around for the past few days, trying to find the perfect mix of players as they look to achieve their goals during the 2022 season. While they had to part with some talented pieces as they got down to 53 players, they were able to retain most of them on their practice squad.

On Wednesday, Baltimore released their initial practice squad, with it being 15 out of a possible 16 players. Every player added was on Baltimore’s 90-man roster at some point, showing that the team did a good job of building up depth over the course of the 2022 offseason. The team’s practice squad is as follows.

  • QB Anthony Brown
  • RB Tyler Badie
  • FB Ben Mason
  • WR Makai Polk
  • WR Raleigh Webb
  • WR Binjimen Victor
  • OT David Sharpe
  • G Kahlil McKenzie
  • DT Isaiah Mack
  • DT Rayshad Nichols
  • OLB Jeremiah Moon
  • LB Steven Means
  • DB Ar’Darius Washington
  • CB Kevom Seymour
  • CB Daryl Worley

Baltimore still has one spot available on their practice squad, one that head coach John Harbaugh said he’d like to go to Tyre Phillips. However, the team’s initial group is extremely deep, and that should help them maneuver  through another 17-game season if injuries occur at key positions.

LSU has the No. 1 transfer class in the nation, per Baseball America

The Tigers have been very active in improving the roster since the end of the 2022 season.

It has been an interesting offseason for [autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] and the LSU baseball team.

The Tigers have had players join the team by way of transferring and by graduating high school, but a few of the guys that were committed to playing for LSU were then picked up in the 2022 MLB draft.

Baseball America recently made a list of who they thought had the best 25 transfer classes in all of college baseball, and LSU came in at No. 1. The class features right-handed pitcher [autotag]Christian Little[/autotag] of Vanderbilt; third baseman [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] of North Carolina State; right-handed pitcher [autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] of UCLA; right-handed pitcher/utility player [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] of Air Force; and infielder [autotag]Ben Nippolt[/autotag] of Virginia Commonwealth.

Here is the breakdown from Baseball America.

With a .362 average and 27 home runs as a freshman a season ago, Tommy White showed that he’s already one of the best hitters in college baseball, period, and more than good enough to set aside question marks about his defensive viability.

Paul Skenes is an accomplished power hitter in his own right, with a .367/.453/.669 career slash line at Air Force with 24 home runs, and there is optimism about his ability to handle the defensive rigors of catching in the SEC. It will be interesting to see how that is balanced with his time on the mound, where he features a mid-90s fastball that touches the high 90s, a swing-and-miss mid-80s slider and a high-80s changeup that flashes plus.

Infielder Ben Nippolt, a late addition to the class from VCU, had a .430 on-base percentage and walked more than he struck out last season, but perhaps more valuable to the Tigers is his ability to play just about anywhere on the infield.

Right-hander Thatcher Hurd had a 1.06 ERA in 34 innings last season and looked like one of the best freshman arms in the country right up until a back injury ended his season prematurely. If he’s fully healthy and ready to go, his fastball that touched 96 mph last season and a low-80s slider that had a 56% whiff rate should get plenty of outs once again.

Right-hander Christian Little had moments of excellence at Vanderbilt, but now pitching coach Wes Johnson will look to bring that out of him more consistently. His stuff certainly stacks up, including a fastball that averaged over 94 mph and touched 98 last season.

We are a long way away from baseball season in the spring, but there are plenty of reasons to be excited about baseball at The Box this year.

Which jersey number should Julio Jones switch to now?

Now that more options have opened up, which jersey number should Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Julio Jones wear this season?

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Julio Jones at the start of training camp, all of the good jersey numbers were already taken.

Jones, who wore No. 8 at Alabama, No. 11 with the Atlanta Falcons, and No. 2 last season for the Tennessee Titans, got saddled with No. 85 as he started his tenure with his longtime NFC South rival.

Everyone knew that number wasn’t likely to last long once final roster cuts were made, and more options became available.

Well, that time has come, and Jones has a few more attractive options to choose from.

We asked the fans which one he should pick:
